Why would the detected face's rectangle bounds be larger than the preview window's frame?

The video preview window's frame width and height is 301 x 290, but the bounds I get from the detected face can be larger than the window's frame, depending on how close the face is to the camera. Shouldn't the detected face's rectangle bounds always be smaller than the preview windwos frame?

Any help in understanding this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

BB
