**Profiles and Logs - Download link is incorrect **

I know how to download a profile / log but what gets downloaded is not what I want

I download sysdiagnose (Unredacted) and Software Update both for iOS and both download the same incorrect profile Messages (iOS). It happens every time I download these two profiles / logs.

Apple Developer refuse to give tech support because I have no paid membership but I do have a basic developer account and as such these profiles / logs are available for download but Apple are being unreasonable refusing to give tech support regarding these profiles / logs.

Apple told me to use the forums but I cannot see how a forum can help unless I suppose a paid member takes my case up with Apple Developer on my behalf.

Anyway here goes nothing

Lemme see if I got this straight:

You went to our Bug Reporting > Profiles and Logs page.
You found the sysdiagnose (Unredacted) for iOS profile.
You clicked the Profile button next to it.
That downloaded a profile.
When you got to install that profile it’s clear that it’s not the right profile. That is, the profile name is Messages Extension Logging rather than anything related to sysdiagnose redaction.

Is that right?

Yes that is absolutely correct. It is the same thing for the Software Update profile. I checked the other profiles and most seem okay but APNS (Apple Push Notification Service) , Phone (General) , and Continuity (IDS) also download the same incorrect Messages Extension Logging profile. I'm unsure what the connection could be. As a developer maybe you might know.

Well, that’s weird. And it’s not just you; on trying this myself I’m seeing the same thing.

Please file a bug against the developer web site, and then post your bug number here, just for the record.

I ask developers to file their own bugs for two reasons:

Due to an Apple internal process [1], it’s significantly easier for me to track bugs filed by a developer than it is for me to track a bug that I file myself.
The previous point covers a relatively recent development, but I’ve been asking developers to file their own bugs for many years. That’s because I have a limited amount of time in the day and I choose to prioritise helping developers over filing bugs.

You must be the wizard ..

It strikes me that I never mentioned it was a bug you did. I said it was a technical issue downloading diagnostic logs. If Apple have a major bug up their end you are entrusting me with a lot of responsibility and Apple must be counting on my feedback.

Anyway it sounds like you know what your talking about having been pointing developers to giving feedback for many years. Maybe one day you’ll find time in your busy day to use that finger more creatively and yes I am deliberately being vague.
