Watch won’t unlock Ventura public beta

My Apple Watch v 8.7 unlocked my iMac flawlessly until I installed the Ventura public beta. Now it says watch unlocking, then a couple seconds later the spinning icon appears for a few more seconds, then the password field opens up.

i have reset the option and rebooted everything multiple times. Any ideas that don’t involve erasing my watch which works perfectly with my iPhone 13?

Did you try to unpair and pair again the watch ?

I can't seem to find that feature to unlock Mac with Watch anywhere in the Ventura settings. I suspect Apple must have quietly disabled it, but no one in tech support knows about it either, so its kinda frustrating.
