Locked out of Apple Developer portal

Hi Guys,

I recently found that my credit card expired for my Apple ID. I successfully signed in on Apple Developer portal, but when trying to change credit card, it asks for security questions like "You dream job" or "Your first car" or "Where were you on January 1, 2000". I have no idea whether I enetered "Programming" or "Software Development" or "Helicopter Pilot" and I don't remember how I entered my car "Brand", "Brand - Type" or in what format. I tried to reset security questions, so I had to enter password again and it sent some security code to my iPad. I entered it, then it asked to set security questions. Since this is very unrealiable way of signing in, because after a time your feelings about the best movie or favourite teacher could change over time. So I hit Cancel, hoping that I will be able to get to settings and completely disable security questions. I started again, but now I'm getting error "Cannot Reset Security Questions. We don't have sufficient information to reset your security questions.".

Now I cannot access info about credit card, so I cannot extend my membership, later I suppose I won't be able to renew certificates and continue to provide support to users.

What can I do?

Why is Apple using such an awkward authentication?

I use password manager and generate strong passwords. Nobody ever broke into my accounts. Passwords are quite sufficient, so why this idiotic approach to security?

Why should I use iPad to get security code? We often replace devices during development. If I no longer have the original device, how do I receive security code?

I created my Apple ID 6 years ago in the USA and setup with local cell number. A few years later I moved overseas and still have the account with address and banking in the USA. I could not set phone number with different country code on iTunes and not even in Developer Portal, s sending text message with security code to my iPhone wouldn't be of much help either. I could not enter credit card issued in different country. I tried to change country on my account 2 or 3 years ago, but that created other problems with my account, especially because I use the same Apple ID for iTunes and Apple Developer account and I had to revert it back.

Now because of new security **** I cannot change country, because I cannot get through the security questions.

What I'm supposed to do?

Do they have idiots implementing account access and security?

USERNAME and PASSWORD is absolutelly secure, if implemented correctly. I see no reason to send text messages or security codes or to fill stupid security questions to which I simply forget answers after a few years.

How can I get access to my account?

Do I need to shutdown my account and create a new one? Do I need to enter security questions when transferring apps to new Apple ID?

For now I will just update app info and tell users that I can no longer support them and I can provide new versioons of Mac App only through my website, but this is really idiotic.

I just really want to configure my account to use only with username and password. Nothing else.

How can I use Apple ID, if I have business registered in one country, permanent address in another country, temporary/home/mailing address in yet another country, phone number yet in another country (better rates), bank account in 5th country (no fees, 1 - 1.5% interest rate on checking and savings), debit card in 6th country tied to another bank account and I work for company in 7th country (better paying and more interesting job), so I have my Apple ID connected to their team, working on internet connection serviced by provider of 8th country (cheaper, portable within EU with same rates). We live in a global world and that's the way it is. How am I supposed to setup my account with Apple? Or are we living behind digital iron curtain?

Any help, at least with unlocking my account, is appreciated.

Thanks.

TMI, Robert, but thanks for sharing 😉
