Glitching sound and dropping outs on M1 Pro running Monterey 12.6

I've migrated from Macbook Pro 2018 to M1 Pro 14" and started experiencing issues with my external USB audio card Roland Rubix22. When I stream audio, or play music in Apple Music, or record it in Ableton Live, there're noticeable dropouts and glitches every 20-30 seconds.

I'm on the latest Monterey 12.6. Using native audio driver. Roland Rubix22 is connected directly to the MacBook USB via type-c cable. CPU load and memory load are way lower than 100%.

It is an absolutely horrible experience on M1 Pro that is expected to be super-performing.

I've already tried activities suggested in common threads with similar problems, like changing Frequency from 48KHz to 44KHz in MIDI settings, removing files from Library/Audio/.... etc.

Did anybody solve the problem?

Hi there,

You might have better luck asking this question over in Apple Support Communities run by Apple Support.

I have the same problem. There are small audio glitches from time to time (more if you have a memory-hungry app open at the same time) with a USB sound card from RME. If I increase the sample rate to 192 kHz the problem seems to get worse and I can also hear glitches / popping / crackling on the internal loudspeakers. From what I’ve read so far, this seems to be a serial issue with a lot of the newer macs. The same device (RME sound card) works flawlessly on an iPad or some other digital audio source. I’ve also wiped my machine completely and had it checked for hardware defects by Apple. The problem persists.
