Can't get Instruments to report PMC counts. Followed Instruments UG instructions exactly.
Does this feature work gnerally?
Set up: OS X ver 10.11.6, Xcode ver 8.2.1, iOS ver 10.2.1, iPhone 6 Plus (and IPad Pro, IPad Mini)
Tried several different apps, including several Apple sample apps (e.g., SceneKitVehicle).
As reported https://forums.developer.apple.com/message/179504#179504, there appear to be issues with sampling performance counters. I have had luck recently using XCode 7.2 with iOS 9.2 on an iPad Pro. I was able to sample a couple of the PMCs (#instructions and #cycles), but this doesn't work with iOS 10+ or with XCode 8+. It may depend on your macOS as well - since upgrading to Sierra, Instruments now reports "The current OS does not have support for your CPU". I'm not sure why the macOS upgrade would affect this - and perhaps it is only a coincidence - but I am no longer able to sample PMCs even with XCode 7.2 running with macOS 10.12.3.
