What is the correct bacgrond resolution for iPads

Hey I'm creating an iPad landscape only game for IOS 9+ and am a bit confused about the naming and resolution I should use for my images. I plan to use auto layout and interface builder. Do I just provide all my images like this:

image-name.jpg - 2048px by 1536px to support 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 2

image-name@2x.jpg - 2732px by 2048px to support the 12.9-inch iPad Pro

Also, how are the non-retina devices (1024x768) handled? do I need to provide those images also.

Thanks, there is alot of conflicting infor out there.

Resolution:

• iPad Mini x* / iPad Air x**

2048 x 1536

• iPad Pro (12.9-inch iPad Pro)

2732 x 2048

Logical Resolution:

• iPad Mini x* / iPad Air x**

1024 x 768

• iPad Pro (12.9-inch iPad Pro)

1366 x 1024

* iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4

** iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, 9.7-inch iPad Pro

Note texture and parallax wallpaper sizes are excluded here.

As for @2x - I believe your list [ 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 2 ] all use @2x. However, if you dump your base images into the appropriate assets catalog, they generated be generated and named for you.

As for older non-retina iPads, they can't run current iOS, so are you sure you intend to provide backwards support?
