Apple Music currently streams Atmos audio encoded in DD+JOC format to Android smartphones. Per the spec, DD+JOC cannot include binaural render mode metadata, so when an end user connects headphones to an Android smartphone and listens to an Atmos sound source with DD+JOC decoded in binaural form, the mix engineer's intent for the binaural mix is imperfectly conveyed. In addition, AC4-IMS has 50% better compression efficiency than DD+JOC.
