I want to write an app for my son's business.
Is there a way to bypass the AppStore to install the app on his iPhone?
I know I can use his phone as a simulator but that requires his phone to be in Developer mode which means his phone will be less secure.

It is not as simulator, you load directly. But effectively, you need developer's mode.
Or you can use TestFlight (you don't bypass Appstore but the app will not be on the appstore for others). App will be usable 90 days, until you extend the test period.
You can also publish as unlisted app. Only those to whom you send the access code will be able to get it. It will not be visible on the appstore either.

Yes I know that using my phone as a simulator installs the app on my phone but as you say, the phone needs to be in Developer mode to run.
I also know about TestFlight but was hoping to avoid all the red tape/paperwork :-)
If you have a moment, how would I publish it as an unlisted app?
