WeatherKit Time Machine past 2021

I'm in the process of transitioning from DarkSky to WeatherKit and it seems the time Machine data only goes back to 2021 with the new system? Can anyone confirm? Is it by design?

That is correct. WeatherKit currently provides historical data for all locations worldwide back to Aug 1, 2021.
