Someone pointed me to this old Q&A for a question I had: "Why are my changes to the /etc/auto_master
file reverted after each update I apply to my macOS Ventura system?"
I can clearly see the logic for reverting/restoring a protected file following an UPGRADE (e.g. Ventura-to-Sonoma), but this logic would seem much less compelling for an UPDATE (e.g. Ventura 13.3-to-Ventura 13.5).
Can someone confirm that this reversion/restoration is in fact why my changes to /etc/auto_master
are "restored" after each update?
If this is NOT the case, can someone explain the reason for the "restoration"?
