I'm developing a workout app for Apple Watch. One of the requests I've been getting for years now is haptic feedback for alerts. I've set this up with the background modes available in watchOS3 and everything works great. That is until you play music from the Music app. Once this happens there are only haptic alerts while the app is in the foreground, which when you are exercising is rarely. Fortunately, there is still an audio alert that plays, so alerts don't go missed altogether.
Is there any way around this or am I going to have to spend countless hours explaining this limitation to my users?
I've already waited until watchOS3 to release an app - that my users are crying out for - because I don't want to release something and have people blame my app for the watches short comings.
Update: It's not just music playing that's the issue. The app is not actually providing haptic feedback as long as the bluetooth audio is connected.
