I noticed a lot of people having problems with Watch os2 beta 2, today i decided to buy a second watch so i could use my first one for development. The new one is running OS1.01 and it is so much faster and the battery is running great. I hope apple addresses this problem and they will get a fix soon. The performance and experience needs to be much better when the public release will be finished!
Anyone found a solution or a cause for this problem?
Mines draining at about 4.5% per hour with 'average use'. The things I've found that affect battery life the most are:
1. Turn off iCloud Backup - go back to iTunes for backups
2. Turn off iCloud Drive
3. Set Diagnostics and Logging to 'Never Send' - as it will kill the battery pretty quickly because we can assume the betas are logging every single thing.
The only thing you can do to prolong battery life is to turn off some of the watches core services. The more of these services you turn off the longer the battery will last. As mentioned previously, iCloud backup, Drive and Diagnostics seem to be the main services that users are reporting to prolong battery. I also shut down the heart rate monitor and fitness tracking services which really helped. At this point the only thing that will ultimately end this issue is for the bugs causing this issue to be repaired. The idea behind beta testing us for users to find and report these issues so that they can be repaired quicker. Obviously OS 2 would not be released to the Public until the issues with the battery are resolved so get testing and use the bug reporter to help Apple resolve any issues that you find. Once the drain issue is resolved via update I would reccomend keeping that firmware version and not upgrading again unless the added services are absolutely essential for your project. You cerrtainly made the right decision to buy a second watch since installing a beta firmware on a personal device is never reccomended by Apple due to the issues. Apple Beta's always have battery issues, as well as many other bugs. The earlier OS 9 firmware version had the exact same issue.
It seems to me that the Activity app is draining a lot of power and it's currently unable to get speed and distance.
I just noticed that turning off the geolocalization in the iOS weather app (iPhone > Settings > Privacy >...) makes my battery last much much more. Yesterday after 6h of normal use i was at 40% today in the same conditions but without the weather geolocalization I have 80%.

I had a bad battery drain after GM Install. My battery was still real bad after impairing the watch from my iPhone 6plus running ios9 GM. I still had a heavy drain on my watch battery. I read a post about apples Now Playing app. I had it as a glance for playing PodCast. I took it off of my glances and since then 4 days ago my battery has been just fine. I believe that app is always on looking for the next command draining my watch battery. Just a heads up something to look at there may be other glances pulling power also. I took my watch off the charger and placed it next to it for a few hours and lost 24% with no use that has gone since taking the app out of glances.
Since the latest beta watch update a few days ago, my watch has been dying from a full charge in minutes. I will stop most glances (but that has never effected my battery life before) I really hope this bug is fix with the finial OS
