Why can't I see the traceback when I get linker errors?

Whenever I get linker errors when building an iOS app. The linker errors appear in the left column like this:

But when I click on them nothing happens. I can't see any kind of traceback or information about what caused the error. I can't even copy and paste what's in the column to try and google it. Is Xcode supposed to be this way? How can I fix this?


I'm using Xcode 8 on Mac OS X 10.12.14
