I used the app on my moms iPad while visiting and loved it! Now I'm home trying to download it in my iPad and it's not compatible. Why isn't the app compatible with 4th generation iPad? Is that going to change?

I would not expect the requirements to go backwards, no. Presumably there is a hardware dependency related to the native Swift compiler the app relies on.
