The NMI and NDI of Apple Wi Fi Aware are the same MAC address

But the NMI and NDI of Samsung's Wi Fi Aware are not the same MAC address. May I ask Apple engineers why they are different from Samsung?

We generally don’t answer why questions here on the forums. I talk about this in Quinn’s Top Ten DevForums Tips.

My understanding is that the Wi-Fi Aware spec allows these to be different, although it doesn’t require that they be different, so both of the behaviours you’re seeing are compliant.

@Bojie_Lv @DTS Engineer In Apple’s NAN peer database, the NMI of a successfully paired peer is stored as the identification marker.

However, in Android and Qualcomm’s implementation, the NDI and NMI are different.

As shown in the figure, Apple’s code may fail to recognize Android’s NDI, which could lead to no NDP response being sent.

In Feedback Assistant, there is a question: "Which area are you experiencing the problem in? I chose Wi‑Fi. Could it be an issue with Wi‑Fi Aware, and should I ask about it in the Wi‑Fi section?"

Bug Reporting: How and Why? has a bunch of hints and tips about filing bugs, and it specifically covers this issue.
