App Store review has twice now rejected our app, but everything they claim is not true.
We noticed your app shares a similar binary, metadata, and/or concept as apps submitted to the App Store by other developers, with only minor differences.
Not true. There's one other app with similar functionality (which I learned about after opening our TestFlight), but the apps are different enough, and there's room in the world for two apps to tackle a similar user need.
Submitting similar or repackaged apps is a form of spam that creates clutter and makes it difficult for users to discover new apps.
Repackaged is certainly not true.
Some factors that contribute to a spam rejection may include:
- Submitting an app with the same source code or assets as other apps already submitted to the App Store
- Creating and submitting multiple similar apps using a repackaged app template
- Purchasing an app template with problematic code from a third party
- Submitting several similar apps across multiple accounts
None of these bullets apply to us, we are doing none of these things.
I have begged in my replies for them to explain to me what they say our app is too similar to, but so far they're not forthcoming.
What to do?
Thank you for your post. If you disagree with the outcome of the review, we recommend submitting an appeal to the App Review Board. When filing your appeal, make sure to:
- Provide specific reasons why you believe your app complies with the App Review Guidelines.
- Submit only one appeal per rejection.
- Respond to any requests for additional information before submitting an appeal.
Once you have submitted the appeal we can escalate it to the App Review Board for review. The App Review Board will contact you directly as soon as they've completed their investigation.
