App Store Connect error: "Upload a screenshot for 13-inch iPad" even though screenshots are uploaded

Hello everyone,

I am trying to submit my iOS app version for review, but I am getting the following error in App Store Connect:

"Não foi possível adicionar para revisão: É necessário carregar uma captura de tela para telas de iPad de 13 polegadas."
("Unable to add for review: You must upload a screenshot for 13-inch iPad displays.")

However, as seen in the screenshot tab for iPad 13-inch display, I have already uploaded multiple screenshots for this device size.

I have checked the Media Manager and tried clicking "Save" before clicking "Add for Review", but the validation error persists.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is this a bug in App Store Connect, or could my image dimensions/color profiles be slightly off despite showing up in the upload grid?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

same here.

Since you have already checked Media Manager and saved, I would narrow this down to the saved screenshot placement rather than assume it is a color-profile issue.

A few checks that may help:

  • In the exact iOS version you are submitting, check the language selected at the top right and its iPad 13-inch screenshot set. An image existing in Asset Library is separate from assigning it to that version/device-size/localization.
  • Open the file information and verify the actual pixel dimensions. Apple currently lists 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 for portrait 13-inch iPad screenshots, or the corresponding landscape dimensions.
  • After reloading the version page, confirm that the images are still present in that set and have finished processing.

Could you share the image dimensions, the selected localization, and a screenshot of the 13-inch set with any private information hidden? That would help distinguish a placement/processing issue from a validation problem. If those all match, report it to Developer Support with the app ID and exact validation message.

Hi!

I have a similar issue and have been testing it quite thoroughly.

Here are my findings.

What I’ve verified:

  • The affected App Store version is iOS 1.0, locale Swedish.
  • The app version is still in PREPARE_FOR_SUBMISSION.
  • I tested the required iPad 13" screenshot with Apple-supported sizes including 2064 × 2752 and 2048 × 2732.
  • I also tested required iPhone screenshots with Apple-supported Dynamic Island sizes, including 1179 × 2556, 1206 × 2622, and a large-profile 1290 × 2796 screenshot.
  • I removed/re-added the screenshots, logged out/in, tried Media Manager directly, and re-created the review submission state.
I then inspected App Store Connect’s own backend responses in DevTools.

The interesting part is that the screenshot placements are actually being created and reported as ACTIVE by App Store Connect:

  • IPAD_13_PROFILE → ACTIVE
  • IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND_MEDIUM_PROFILE → ACTIVE
  • IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND_LARGE_PROFILE → ACTIVE
The 1290 × 2796 large iPhone screenshot is also reported by the backend with the correct width/height and is attached to IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND_LARGE_PROFILE.

However, when I click Add for Review, App Store Connect still returns:

STATE_ERROR.SCREENSHOT_REQUIRED.IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND

with:

A screenshot for one of the following types is required but was not provided: IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND_LARGE_PROFILE, IPHONE_FACE_ID_LARGE_PROFILE, IPHONE_DYNAMIC_ISLAND_MEDIUM_PROFILE

This is despite both medium and large Dynamic Island placements being present and ACTIVE.

Earlier, the same thing happened for iPad 13": the UI and placement API both showed the iPad screenshot present, while the review validator still returned STATE_ERROR.SCREENSHOT_REQUIRED.IPAD_13_PROFILE.

Media Manager also shows some faded “Using Existing Assets” entries for older optional device sizes, but those sections say 0 of 10 App Screenshots and cannot be removed directly. The older legacy appScreenshotSets still exist in the backend, while the newer Asset Library placements are also present.

So at this point it looks more like an App Store Connect backend consistency/validation issue than an image-format issue.

I’m planning to report this to Developer Support with the exact version/localization IDs and the failing 409 response.

Same issue here. I have 8 screenshots uploaded under the iPad 13" display tab, Media Manager shows them all correctly, and the Save button is disabled (no unsaved changes), but “Add for Review” still says:

“You must upload a screenshot for 13-inch iPad displays.”

Has anyone found a fix, or heard back from Apple Developer Support about this? It looks like a bug on the App Store Connect side.
