Also, iOS currently has about 42% of the market (depending on the source you trust) and Android currently has about 54%. However, iOS has been steadily growing it's market share for quite some time and may overtake in the future if the trend continues.
Another important factor is that when the market share by spend is divided by the number of apps then iOS is the clear winner - i.e. iOS apps already tend to earn their developers more than Android apps do.
