OK, before KMT sternly warns me that this is not an official Apple support channel, let me say that I think this is the right place to comment on the annoying requirement to download ~6GB of data for every incremental iOS/tvOS upgrade. I have a reasonably fast Internet connection and yet I must wait 2-3 hours to upgrade from Xcode 9.1 to Xcode 9.2. For a company that developed the Time Machine, this situation is unacceptable. This posting is to start a discussion among us, registered Apple developers. Who else wants to be able to get incremental Xcode upgrades?
Apple, could you please enable incremental Xcode upgrades?
This is an age old complaint (not visited in a while, but what the hey...because SuperMoon, I guess), back when Xcode was around 10gb. and the internet burned coal and needed a tow truck just to go downhill.
Apparently, the way their IDE is tied together & coupled w/macOS, Apple has made it clear in the past that the concept of an incremental update just isn't applicable.
We're lucky the MAS serves it up now, even if it took a few years to trim those sails 😉
My concern is how Xcode is now a permanent beta, forcing devs to play a shell game just to test and get in the store. That's the topic that needs discussing.
Long live discussion, just pls. care enough to back up feature requests such as this via a bug report, adding your report # to your thread for reference, thanks and Dilly Dilly.
