NFC to launch an App

Can we use the CoreNFC framework to automatically open an app when a specific NFC tag is detected?

The framework would need to run the the background processes.. Has anyone seen this done or can they point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Oliver

Hi,

No, not possible for now (maybe in iOS 12, hopefully).

Currently, CoreNFC is limited to in-application only (not system-wide, besides active Appe Pay cards like transport titles, Suica in Japan for example).

Also, even in app, the developer needs to init a session that is valid only in foreground, for only 60 seconds, so it's pretty much useless.

I also would love to see a system-wide implementation with url schemes to open apps or activate actions like it's the case on Andrroid. Hopefully also bring it on the Apple Watch as well.

Would love to see NFC Core available for Watch apps as well.

Could someone from Apple comment, is this in plans for next watch os SDK release?

With regards.
