I've build sending the reports from when I have to "Force Quit" Xcode, but it is getting very annoying. It seems like opening and closing different workspaces might be related to the problem, though no clear pattern has arisen.
Anyone have any workarounds?

It's driving me bonkers. It's not to do with opening and closing workspaces that I can tell it seems to be related to initiating another task, like run or test at the same time it is indexing/prebuilding. Then a deadlock occurs requiring a force quit. The only workaround that I have found is to not initiate another task whilst it is indexing: if you remember to look in the tasks bar at the top before you press that button you do better than me!!
If you have found something better, please let me know.
Nope, 'twas the first thing I tried.
Remove then reinstall xCode.
