Instruments profile tools stopped working

Let my iMacPro update itself to macOS 10.13.4.

Now none of the instrument tools work for iOS. E.g. using Time Profiler -- tool thinks it's working, app runs, but nothing but a ticking timeline and zero reported stats. MetalSystemTrace does the same.

Have tried devices iOS9 -> iOS11 and iPhone6 -> iPhoneX. I'm completely dead in the water.

I haven't bothered putting in a Radar, as "Tools don't work" doesn't get much attention.

Hints on how to shake this loose? How do you force xCode to do whatever setup it performs when you first launch a new version?

cheers - j

Not working for me too, on any device except iOS 11.3 devices.

Thats fantastic.

I've spent the time to log a radar - 39370375 - which I expect will be ignored and/or closed as a duplicate of some other internal bug I can never see. I guess I just won't do any iOS profiling for a while. Sigh.

I've been using an older version of Instruments through Xcode 9.2 to profile devices not running ios 11.3 😟

Same. I've been having some back-n-forth with Apple over my Radar, so they appear to be actively investigating.

Downgrading to XCode 9.2 fixed this issue for me. I can profile for iOS 10.3.3 devices now.
