Stylus support for iPhone Duo in the European Union
If you build third-party input accessories, you can add support for stylus-based inking on iPhone Duo in the European Union. A stylus is an accessory that enables inking and connects to iPhone Duo through USB-triggered or proximity-triggered pairing.
Inking
Enable inking and tilt on iPhone Duo with stylus accessories. Stylus accessories integrate with the PencilKit framework. They must also meet the hardware requirements defined in the Stylus Accessory Specification and Stylus Inking Hardware Specification.
USB-triggered pairing
Enable connection between iPhone Duo and stylus accessories with USB-triggered pairing. When an accessory is connected to an iPhone Duo using USB-C, the device detects the accessory’s Bluetooth pairing capability and displays a pairing prompt.
Proximity-triggered pairing
Enable discovery and pairing between iPhone Duo and stylus accessories with proximity-triggered pairing. When an accessory in pairing mode is near an iPhone Duo, the device detects the accessory’s Bluetooth LE advertisement and displays a pairing prompt.

Requesting access
The Account Holder of your Apple Developer Program membership will be able to request access on behalf of your organization. To qualify, your organization must:
- Intend to develop and distribute or sell accessories, under your company's brand, to customers in the European Union.
- Be currently enrolled in the Apple Developer Program as an organization.
Once you agree to the terms, your team will get access to the resources needed to complete accessory registration with Apple servers. Please note that accessories must support either USB-triggered pairing or proximity-triggered pairing.
If you’re interested in implementing stylus support, express your interest below. We’ll let you know as soon as stylus support becomes available in a developer beta and the associated documentation is published.
