Hi all, I am building an app which is something in between a news outlet and provider of live stream brodcasts from live events.
Unfortunately I can't pass through the review process, it's been rejected couple times already. It's already been few iterations, over course of which we have redesigned few aspects of our app as well as added new interactive functionality.
Overall in short summary our app has the following:
1) Access to watch Live Broadcasts from events & access to our production materials. We run our own production and stream the events live to the app. After even is finished we publish the recording.
2) Ability to read curated list of news. Our moderator team is monitoring most important media sources (~12 channels) and regularly posts most notable and important materials.
3) Users have a choice to change push notification frequency: either be notified about all news, only important ones, or disable notifications at all.
3) Ability to bookmark and share content (native ios func.)
4) Users can submit own news to our team for review.
Regarding the functionality:
- Push notifications when moderators publish new content
- In-app notifications about Live broadcast (our team is running live broadcasts few time per week)
- Native implementation for iOS video player
- Pull to refresh news feed
- Bookmarks functionality for quick access to most important news for users
- Share functionality (native ios share dialog)
- Splash screen
- iOS icons for back, share, bookmarks
- Intuitive in-app navigation is done in accordance with iOS navigation.
Here's android version of our app - functionality-wise it's all the same:

I recently went through appeal process where I've got same response: " Your app does not comply with App Store Review Guideline 4.2.2.To resolve this issue, please ensure your app includes features, content, and UI that elevate it beyond being primarily a repackaged website or marketing materials."
4.2.2 is about the following:
4.2.2 Other than catalogs, apps shouldn’t primarily be marketing materials, advertisements, web clippings, content aggregators, or a collection of links.
However my app offers much more.
Any suggestions or ideas what can I do to pass the 4. 2 rejection reason?
Many thanks,
Pavel
