After an install that hung up I can now only start in safe mode. I have no login items at all on the account. If I try to start in normal mode it just hangs up. I can get it going in safe mode but that doesn’t help me at all

Tried to reinstall in recovery mode and it is just hanging at “About 2 minutes remaining” for the last hour. That is about where is hung up on the first attempt

Do you have any AV Software installed?
No I do not. I tried reinstalling and it hit same error at same point. I then tried reinstalling over internet and it has been hung as same position for about 90 minutes. Was there a program you were thinking might be issue?
iMac Late 2014 will boot but then as soon as desktop is displayed it will 'freeze' - mouse will move but mouse click or keyboard will do nothing - Boot in 'SAFE' mode the system will come up OK and is usable but no second screen and Chrome Canary has render issues
Do you have Dropbox installed? I had the same issue as you are experencing and it was Dropbox. Once I deleted that app, it boots fine.
Booting to safe mode and creating a new user account may help as a temporary workaround. I was having the same problem with my computer freezing immediately after the desktop loaded with only the mouse moving. The new user account works fine though.
