Honestly what the hell?

I made the horrific mistake of udpating to this beta. My applications that were running perfectly on High Sierra are showing memory leaks and vastly decreased performance when using the same Xcode version. How is this even possible? I can't even see MacOS High Sierra in the store either to get back to sanity.

Shouldn't even be surprised.

This is why it's called beta!

You can't downgrade via the MAS.

You've to set up your Mac new, if you want to re-use High Sierra.

In best case use your TimeMachine to restore your Mac to HighSierra.

I despise Apple

There should be a way to revoke the developer license for people who install the beta's and then complain.

For Day one new beta - I use an old USB3 WD 1 TB hard drive to build system.

A USB3 to SATA adapter to a SSD 256/128 GB disk is faster.

I will disconnect the Thunderbolt cable to other drives as that is a posibility the OWC raid hub may not yet be supported.

Honestly...

If you are a dev, you must know that you have to be careful with your machine...

New Beta os macOS ... several strategies :

1/ Wait the first feedback... is it worth to install it ?

2/ Make a backup of you system, CCC or Time Machine

3/ Use a partition or an external drive

Be serious a second please 🙂

You sound like a top-notch developer bud...

Delerious expectations for a brand new beta release, and complete lack of knowledge on the simple task of reverting back to a different OS...

Not knowing that stuff is honestly not that bad though. It's the ignorance to just blindly complain about the obvious drawbacks of a beta, and then blame the beta for you not knowing how to revert, that gets me.

There are 2 ways to go about updating to a beta, espically Beta 1.

1. Backup to TM, then update.

2. dual boot and install the beta fresh and leave your current install alone.

If you're not a developer or someone tech savy enough to wade through these muddy waters, please DO NOT INSTALL BETAs. You risk losing everything just for the sake of seing something new. It's not worth the headache.

they're probably not real licensed folks or professional trolls.

This beta behaves more like an alpha version than a beta

APFS makes it really FAST to set up a second Volume in the Container. Create that and install to it.

Upgrading your main Mac or iPhone or Watch to the first developer beta of a new OS is plan dumb!

WWDC betas always have. The reason is they are usually quite a few weeks old in order to be ready for WWDC. I rarely touch WWDC betas and start looking at Beta 2.

The way I look at it the first beta release is not so much beta but more of an alpha release. Why do folks install this on a primary machine.

Honestly what the hell?
