HomeKit APIs not updated yet?

I reviewed the HomeKit Deep Dive 2018 session, and it announced the Remotes feature.

However, the HomeKit APIs seem unchanged based on the diffs. Also, the Home app shows many devices since 11.4 which the HomeKit APIs again do not show. Apple TVs and HomePods are invisible in the HomeKit API despite being first-class accessories in the Home app, they don't even have a device type in the APIs and iterating through all accessories does not find them. Yet, they do appear in the Home app and act exactly like any other accessory.

It seems like the HomeKit APIs have not been updated since iOS 11 yet new HomeKit features have been announced including the Remotes from iOS 12 and even features from iOS 11.4 are not showing up.

What is the expectation for this? I'd like to establish early whether these APIs are simply coming in beta 2 or otherwise soon, or not actually coming –– which will make all HomeKit apps look secondary/bad compared to Home and would prevent a significant amount of seemingly-announced functionality not to provide the announced AppleTV control as an accessory.

Thanks.
