Managing Enterprise App Deployment &Updates-Basics

Hello,

I have been trying to get an answer via a live Apple rep(phone) but it seems as if most reps are unfamiliar with business solutions that Apple provides. I have tried to do some research but its becoming a bit overwhelming.

The scenario is this:

I have developed an App that I need to be distributed among 500+ ipads(company owned).

I need to install and continuously deploy updates to these 500+ devices.

My questions regarding this scenario:

1.)What applications/software does apple have to aide in this deployment?

2.)How would updates for these devices be managed? (I wish to have automatic updates so that whenever a new version becomes available it is installed automatically or with as little employee(user) input as possible.)

3)I understand I will need a developer account with a DUNS number, but once I have completed that step, what else do i need in order to deploy the app since it will not be on the public app store?

Further info:

This will be free, no purchases made by emlployees and the app has no internal payment options or features.

I have seen the 705 video, it seems a little outdated-wondering if any newer solutions and methods apply, also I own the code so the B2B portion kind of threw me.

Thanks in advance for the help.I'm completely new to this!

The _company_ would need their own Developer Enterprise Program account (see the Programs link above). They will need a DUNS.

_You/someone_ would then work as an internal consulant for distribution, etc.

Apple provides Apple Configurator 2 [ https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apple-configurator-2/id1037126344?mt=12 ], which may suffice in simple cases, but what is used for deployment depends soley on the modeled requirements/specs as determined and laid out by the parties involved, based on, but not limited by, budget, security, any govt. requirements and of course what type of support the distribution is expected to demand over time.

Beyond what Apple provides, you get into MDM solutions, represented by an entire market. Google is your friend in that case. I would have the best grasp possible on the distribution model prior to contacting vendors.
