Hi, does anyone have experience submitting a news aggregator app? Mine keeps getting rejected due to guideline 5.2.2 3rd party intellectual property. I see many news aggregators in the app store so I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Resolution center never replies with specifics, only the same general rejection message. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
App Rejection by 5.2.2 3rd party
No app in the store is any promise of what will/won't be rejected/approved going forward.
Either you've timed it right and got caught up in a newly framed rejection, and/or you're using feeds that you shouldn't.
>Authorization must be provided upon request.
I'll assume you lack such authorization, because if you'd supplied it as requested, you'd not be here.
If you filed appeals and they've been exhausted, your app has been flagged and your effort baked. Stick a fork in it...it's done.
The guideline is pretty clear:
- 5.2.2 Third Party Sites/Services: If your app .....displays content from a third party service, ensure that you are specifically permitted to do so under the service’s terms of use. Authorization must be provided upon request.
I suspect they feel you are not permitted to use some of the news sources that you are aggregating. If you disagree, then provide them with the documents that you feel gives you the right to 'display content from a third party'.
If you have identified other news aggregators that you feel are violating this guideline you are welcome to bring that to the attention of App Review. But I don't think that will help your app get approved.
Hey, were you able to resolve this? We ran into a similar issue, again, for a news aggregation app.
