Renew Distribution Provisioning Profile and Distribution Certificate

I've got the same question. I've been trying to find the right place to renew but no luck. Our distribution cert expires on July 24!

Profiles and certs have nothing to do with store apps and users, so they already "won't have to do anything". They are only used by Apple to confirm you are you when uploading.

Pay your fee to renew your dev account, then follow the steps in the Member Center/Certificates, Identities & Profiles to renew your main dev cert, using the same process you did originally.

For any profiles that have expired, refresh them there as well by selecting/editing each one as needed, then follow the prompts.

My Apps are InHouse distribution, meaning, I create IPA file and upload it to a website and my customers can download the apps from it.

I remember that last year after the Distribution Provision Pofile was expired, customers couldn't launch the App, till I create a new Distribution Provision Pofile, compiled the Apps with it, and upload it to the website, so they can download it again.

So, how do I renew my Distribution Provision Pofile before it expires? and then do I have to compile the Apps again with this new Distribution Provision Pofile?

So I need more specific answer please for this issue above.

I'm in the exact situation you're in as well. Have you been successful in renewing your Distribution Profile for your in house app? Did it require re-compiling the app with the new profile, or were you able to get the profile deployed through some other method? I appreciate your insight.

If your distribution provisioning profile expires, the apps that use that provisioning profile will stop working. Users will see a message along the lines of "this app is no longer available." You will either need to renew the provisioning profile and distribute if through your MDM if your provider supports that feature or you will need to recompile your apps with the new provisioning profile.

My organization has gone through two provisioning profile update scenarios.

The distribution certificate is not quite as clear to me. I am certain the distribution certificate never leaves your Mac and is simply to validate your identity as a valid developer during code signing. My assumption is that nothing happens when the distribution certificate expires. You will simply need to get a new distribution certificate if you want to continue signing apps.

You can mess with the date settings on your iOS device to test different scenarios.

Provisioning Profile will not be renewed automatically and you will be able to renew an expired provisioning profile by editing and re-generating it in Member Center.

I believe with the introduction of IOS9 it is not possible to update the Porvisioning profile using MDM without Re-Installing/Updating the entire Application.

We have faced a similar kind of situation and observed we had to update and reinstall entire application to update the provisioning profile. (which is painful and troublesome and requires business communication to the end users).

It will be great if anybody from Apple shed some more light on this topic , it is important for the inhouse App developer & MDM admins.

Nonsense, it's entirely possible. The trick is your new Provisioning Profile must include the same Production Distribution cert as the one which signed the app. A matching cert with a new expiration date won't suffice.
