How long does an app with 'in review' status currently take to be approved (or denied) to the app store?

This is my first time returning to the iOS app development world in a number of years. I am used to each app taking a week automatically to be reviewed.

Now it is much faster, the first time I submitted this app, within two hours I had a response. Rejected because of some iPad support issues. Since fixed those.

Submitted again, within 4 hours or so had a response, rejected because of the location prompt not being detailed enough.

Now hopefully with everything really buttoned up, my app entered the "In Review" stage at 11am, it is currently nearly 11pm in my time. Is this normal? I know the app store review process can be crazy.. I just figured when you begin to look at the actual app.. how can you do so for 12+ hours. Obviously I am assuming "In Review" is just another queue.

How long have you guys recently been "In Review"? Maybe not hearing back so quick means they aren't quickly finding reasons to reject

Keep in mind review stops when they find an issue...wash/rinse/repeat. Some of the steps are automated and some involve an actual person. How long between each review/response can vary and means little. Be patient and good luck.

Apps can be "In Review" for weeks or longer, so they are most likely not being actively reviewed that entire time. "In Review" does appear to be just another stage in the review process.

I have waited more than 2 months but my app is still in "Waiting for review". Please help me!
