iOS Simulator (Xcode 10 beta 6) doesn't start (black screen) and corrupts previous versions

iOS Simulator (Xcode 10) doesn't start for some devices like iPad Air and shows a black screen. No activity or CPU usage.

Also, after Xcode 10 beta installation, iOS Simulator (Xcode 9.4) is also corrupted and unable to load iPad Air and some other devices.

I already opened a radar: 44079719

I found a workaround to recover at least Xcode 9's iOS Simulator:

- delete Xcode 10

- delete Library/Developer folder

- delete Users/User/Library/Developer folder

- run all the Installers in Xcode/Contents/Resources/Packages

This bug is really annoying. I hope that will be resolved before the final release...

I've got the same issue as well. iOS Simulator version 10.0 with Xcode 9.4.1.

iPhone 6 sim works for example, but iPad Air 1 & 2, iPad Pro (all sizes), iPad 5th and 6th gen, all display black screen without any boot GUI.

Odd thing is when pressing the homebutton for several seconds does start Siri, or at least the sounds of siri starting are audible.

For me, none of them work -- it corrupted all of my simulators and now I can't test on Xcode 9 or Xcode 10! 😐

As well, the solution you posted did not work at all for me. EXTREMELY annoyed that I'm going to have to reset my entire computer just to continue developing apps. What was I thinking trying to upgrade?

Edit: Okay, it seems like an update came out today that fixes this!!! I ended up not having to reset my computer 🙂

They fixed it!

At least, for me the new Xcode 10.1 beta 3 fixed the problems with "big" simulators, now iPhone X/S/R and plus models work again.

However, the performance seems to be really bad, the simulation of Metal is asking for some power, I assume.

Anyway, the screenshots work again and so we can submit apps again.
