I created an app listing for an app. It has not yet been published however I was contacted through the App Store about the name by another company.
How would someone be able to find the owner of an app name and the Apple ID of that app if the app has not been published to the App Store?
I am asking because I did not think this was possible.
How does someone get 'contacted through the App Store'...?
Maybe policy has changed...or the bribe was right 😉
Maybe the name was sussed by association with other similar named apps and they shotgunned emails to everyone they could reach.
If your app is ‘Grounds for Sculpture‘ and you don’t publish it and then the Grounds for Sculpture decides to develop an app with that name the Apple will tell them they can’t use the name. They can write back ‘we own the trademark’. Apple will put them in contact with you to decide who has the right to use the name. It is possible that Apple will do that if they say’may we contact the other developer to discuss using that name
