App with same name by a developer in different country

Hi All,

I have an app on Android which I launched more than 2 years back. I am now launching the iOS version of the same app with the same name which I have on Android. But recently I realized that an iOS app with same is already present which was released just a year back by some developer in Israel. I would be publishing the app to be available in all markets.

Now I have 2 queries:

If I also publish the app with the same name will Apple reject my app? [Although the bundle id is different]
Can I use my android app and companion website as an evidence to support my case if Apple rejects my iOS App? I have the trademark for the name in my Country.

Please suggest how should I proceed in this situation.

1.) Same name is only allowed in different country(s).

2.) You will need to contact Apple support directly - try the 'Contact Us' link via App Store Connect...I think there is a selection involving (trademark) rights.

You may need to get your app in the store in regions where the name isn't used first, then file a rights claim where it is.

Start off by trying to create the app with that name in App Store Connect. Only if they refuse to allow you to use that name do you have a problem.

1) use a different name: instead of MyApp call it MyApp+

2) use the Contact Us, as described above using, your existing app to claim the trademark rights and ask that the other developer change their name. However, you will need to show those trademark rights in Israel - I suspect that may be difficult.
