safari doesn't save history or logins

From about 3 Mojave betas to now, Safari won't save history or login info. I've done a clean install of the released Mojave and restored my files from a time machine backup. I'm using Safari Technology Preview (which works fine) instead of Safari so that I don't have to log back in to a lot of the sites every time. Could I be missing a file or files from the time machine backup that keeps Safari from saving? Is anyone else having this problem?. Any ideas appreciated.

Fixed it! One of the files in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState must have been corrupt. I replaced all 3 files in that folder with the files from the same folder in SafariTechnologyPreview.
