A few years ago, Apple added the ability for users to download a legacy version of an application if their device no longer meets the requirements of the latest version of the application. There's very little information about this feature.
Should the developer mark a version as a legacy version or is this handled by the App Store? Does the App Store automatically keep one or more versions around if the requirements of an application change? I've browsed App Store Connect, but I haven't been able to find any information about this.
If an existing user searches the store on a device/OS that is not compatible with the current version, where there is an older version that is, the store will alert the user and give them the choice to obtain it, or bail, based on the dev's selection via ASC/myApp/Pricing and Availabilty>Last-Compatible Version Settings for that app.
