What App Store regions do I need to disable? (Guideline 5.4 - Legal)

Hello,i submitted my app to the appstore, it was rejected: "This app is marketed as being able to bypass geo-restrictions or government firewalls via VPN, which may be considered illegal in some of the locations where this app is available."

So i disabled the availibility of my VPN app in the following regions: Belarus, China mainland, Oman, Russia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and the UAE.

However, after i submitted it for review again it still got rejected for the same reason.

Please could somone help me disable the required regions, i cannot find any documentation on what to disable.

Thank you.

I'd go the other route - figure out where it is legal and geofence it for only those regions. Also, inform App Review that the app will only function in those regions. The issue is not "where this app is available" but "where this app functions".

The rejection isn't about where your app is sold, it's about where it is allowed to do it's thing. If you simply took it off sale in the store in certain countries and resubmitted, I'm not surprised it was yet again rejected.

Instead, you should use location services (core location) that first determines where the user is, and then check that spot against the list of countries where you believe it should be disabled, turning VPN services on/off as required.

See:

Monitoring the User's Proximity to Geographic Regions

Use region monitoring to determine when the user enters or leaves a geographic region.
