I submit an app and i use a SDK to gender detection but review team reject my app. They think that i use the detection mechanism for authentication but i use it for gender detection and my app has two directions, for man and woman. I need help 🙂
Is it possible to detect gender with face id?
Any information, which is produced by Face ID, are stored locally in separate chip. Neither Apple, nor any apps, can access the data.
Apple notes:
Face ID data doesn’t leave your device and is never backed up to iCloud or anywhere else. Only in the case that you wish to provide Face ID diagnostic data to AppleCare for support will this information be transferred from your device. And even in this case, data isn’t automatically sent to Apple; you can first review and approve the diagnostic data before it’s sent.
The only thing you're going to detect with that is a big ole can-o-worms. Just don't go there. Use one set of directions.
I don't think he means using the official Face ID mechanism. I think he means using the front facing camera with some third party library to determine gender. But I think that would be highly unreliable. It would be better just to display two buttons so the user could select their gender.
