watchOS 2b4 slow & locks up

I installed b4 and the watch is slow and actually locks up now requiring a force reboot. When it first launches, it works just fine but after a few minutes, it starts to bog down and eventually requires the force reboot. Unpairing and repairing doesn't fix it.

I wonder if there is a weird process causing this. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've had it lock up twice needing a forced reboot. I haven't seen the slowdown, though.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Watch slow (pulling down notifications, sliding up glances). Siri just doesn't come up. Watch locks and requires force reboot.

So far only tried re-syncing contacts. Going to try wiping.

(and as I typed that, my watch reset itself...).

Some people claim this build is far better than the last. Am wondering what we're doing wrong...

Yeah, I am not sure what is going on. I am going to try resetting again and not install any 3rd party apps to see if that is the issue.

Mine has locked up 5 times so far today requiring a force reboot.

So I bit the bullet, erased all settings, and re-paired my watch. Now all is well but still holding my breath...

Did you set it up as a new watch or restored to your previous settings after erasing and repairing?

I have erased all settings, haven't installed any 3rd party apps and I made adjustments to notifications. Had a random reboot so far but no lock ups.

Just got another hard lock with the watch set up as a new watch. I raised my wrist and nothing. Pressing the digital crown or the side button doesn't do anything. Watch.app doesn't see the watch either.

same here.

Mine was locking up every 30 minutes or so. I've tried a full reset of the device, and now I can't even get it paired back to the iPhone. Pairing crashes, hangs, etc. Bit of a nightmare tbh.

same issue here, watch freezes often, had to hard resete about all hour.

hope for a fix, can´t really work with it like this...

Same here, beta 3 was really good but beta 4 is a dissaster just like beta 2.

I've been having lots of lag and timeouts on my watch when using the Simple watch face. I also couldn't get Siri to work at all on the Simple Face. When I switch to Modular, Utility or Color things work much better! Modular seems to work the best. Curious if anyone else can recreate this?

I did set my watch up as new and right now don't have any third party apps.

That seems to be working so far. Seems changes that have been made to faces are causing severe slow downs. As you stated, Modular seems to work best, but there are still lags when bringing in the notifications pane or glances. I still haven't installed any 3rd party apps yet.

Numerous lock ups and sluggishness. Really awful beta.

same here, waiting for solution

I experimented all the problems you describe in the precedent betas, but I didn't find any solution…

But this one is perfect, Siri is fast, Messaging finally works, the Watch has a good battery, it's not restarting every hour and no freeze clock. I updated from the beta 3 (I've not configured my Watch as a new one)

I really don't understand what's wrong with those watchOS 2 betas, it's all about random, nobody has the same bugs… I hope the next beta will be as good for you as this one for me!

Beta 4 version is useless it keep locking up all the time requitreing a force restart. Cannot Develop on it since it locks all the time. Where was QA ?

iI've had the same experience with beta 4.... Constant lock ups requiring a restart... Very annoying and by far the worst version yet

Count me in as another lucky one with constant lockups and reboots on beta 4. How does Apple allow a beta to get worse, rather than better, with a new release? Argh!!!!

the QA teams have been on vacation for a very long time even release builds are not of quality any more. Betas have become Alpha Builds Release Builds have become Betas. And they dont care since they are getting worse there is no sign of quality. Sad but true.

My watch locked up once. I don't often interact with my watch. I get notifications mostly (calendar reminders and imessage). I'm curious about the batter life b4.

For me, b2 was unusable. I had 4hrs batter life. b3 broght it back to a day's use for me. I'm at almost 16hrs of use and showing 59% batter remaining. I'm wondering if the % remaining is working corretly. I'm not charging it tonight to see what the watch says when I wake up.

For b3 I setup as a new watch and did not install any apps. I did the upgrade to b4 and it's been fine (except one lockup shortly after the upgrade).

I didn't want this thread to turn into a bash fest. It's not productive folks. There is a reason Apple, and pretty much every other company, warns of the risks of installing betas. It is more than likely to be a bumpy ride. I don't pass judgement on betas. What bugs I can reproduce, get submitted.

Now to be back on topic. The Simple face seems to be the biggest culprit of issues that folks are seeing. I am using Modular now and other than some slugishness with the notification shade and bringing up Glances, it seems to be working better.

Thank you for bringing up the watch face you are using.

I noticed the same issues with lock ups and slow reaction of the watch. I used the simple face, too. I switched to Utility and it seems to work better.

Also, I agree with the rest what you wrote. It's a beta and therefore no reason to complain that it's buggy. To find a solution/workaround should be what we discuss here and not blame Apple.

We should not complain. It seems that the Apple staff members don't read the forum anymore or not so frequently like the did in the past. I will spend the whole day today with the bug reporter. This is now already Beta 4 and there are still so many open issues and bugs that is unbelievable. But without writing bug tickets we cannot help the team to fix them.
