watchOS 2b4 slow & locks up

I installed b4 and the watch is slow and actually locks up now requiring a force reboot. When it first launches, it works just fine but after a few minutes, it starts to bog down and eventually requires the force reboot. Unpairing and repairing doesn't fix it.

I wonder if there is a weird process causing this. Is anyone else seeing this?

same here, waiting for solution

I experimented all the problems you describe in the precedent betas, but I didn't find any solution…

But this one is perfect, Siri is fast, Messaging finally works, the Watch has a good battery, it's not restarting every hour and no freeze clock. I updated from the beta 3 (I've not configured my Watch as a new one)

I really don't understand what's wrong with those watchOS 2 betas, it's all about random, nobody has the same bugs… I hope the next beta will be as good for you as this one for me!

Beta 4 version is useless it keep locking up all the time requitreing a force restart. Cannot Develop on it since it locks all the time. Where was QA ?

iI've had the same experience with beta 4.... Constant lock ups requiring a restart... Very annoying and by far the worst version yet

Count me in as another lucky one with constant lockups and reboots on beta 4. How does Apple allow a beta to get worse, rather than better, with a new release? Argh!!!!

the QA teams have been on vacation for a very long time even release builds are not of quality any more. Betas have become Alpha Builds Release Builds have become Betas. And they dont care since they are getting worse there is no sign of quality. Sad but true.

My watch locked up once. I don't often interact with my watch. I get notifications mostly (calendar reminders and imessage). I'm curious about the batter life b4.

For me, b2 was unusable. I had 4hrs batter life. b3 broght it back to a day's use for me. I'm at almost 16hrs of use and showing 59% batter remaining. I'm wondering if the % remaining is working corretly. I'm not charging it tonight to see what the watch says when I wake up.

For b3 I setup as a new watch and did not install any apps. I did the upgrade to b4 and it's been fine (except one lockup shortly after the upgrade).

I didn't want this thread to turn into a bash fest. It's not productive folks. There is a reason Apple, and pretty much every other company, warns of the risks of installing betas. It is more than likely to be a bumpy ride. I don't pass judgement on betas. What bugs I can reproduce, get submitted.

Now to be back on topic. The Simple face seems to be the biggest culprit of issues that folks are seeing. I am using Modular now and other than some slugishness with the notification shade and bringing up Glances, it seems to be working better.

Thank you for bringing up the watch face you are using.

I noticed the same issues with lock ups and slow reaction of the watch. I used the simple face, too. I switched to Utility and it seems to work better.

Also, I agree with the rest what you wrote. It's a beta and therefore no reason to complain that it's buggy. To find a solution/workaround should be what we discuss here and not blame Apple.

We should not complain. It seems that the Apple staff members don't read the forum anymore or not so frequently like the did in the past. I will spend the whole day today with the bug reporter. This is now already Beta 4 and there are still so many open issues and bugs that is unbelievable. But without writing bug tickets we cannot help the team to fix them.

Not sure why people are asking about QA - its a developer beta (as usual).

Each beta addresses some bugs - some fixes may cause other bugs or they may just be focusing on specific things in a specific beta - this is why there is a big statement to say only install in development devices. People do really seem to think that a beta is just a pre release version. In development terms beta is where all the main work is done and its just for findingt and fixing bugs.

From my experience in fact its all much smoother and is certainly better than beta 2

Update. It's been 25hrs and watch is at 37%.

Guys, I've found that most crashes will happen when I use Simple watchface with complications:

- Weather

- Calendar

- Date

- Activity

- World Clock

Changed to Modular watchface with same complications and haven't faced any lockups so far.

Same here, several lockups a day, fresh install with setup as new device didn't help. Trying modular face now. Used 'utility' before.

You're exactly right that expectations need to be tempered for a developer beta.

However, it's fairly impossible to test the device with our own apps when the device can't even maintain a connection to the watch for more than 30 seconds at a time.

A non-functional beta isn't useful for us at all.
