App Not Appropriate

PLEASE HELP

I have crearted an app that is like Airtaskr but with Uber features, it is to find a cleaner near you, in your local area.

Originally it was approved but then on another review it was deemned to have objectionable content.

Apple did not specify what objectionable content however after speaking with a representative she clearly said she beliveved my app was for prostitution and these were models coming to clean houses. It then went to the images on my website were to sexy and I quote "lets be frank this is not a cleaning app, I know what it is". Lets say the conversation was not professional and I copped a lot of verbal abuse it was disgusting.

However i changed the images as it was clear she felt threatened by the pretty people on the website and I also changed a few shilouettes in the app just to be safe.

I have resubmitted the app and just had another phone call with the same lady, who I requested be removed from the app decission due to preconcieved ideas, however the app again was rejected.

The reason this time was my marketing on social media platforms was of objectionable content, one image on a social platform in particular was a girl washing a car in a bikini top, youcould not see anything else as she was behind the car washing it. Most people i know wash there car in less cloths or even swimmers in hot climates like australia.

I have appealed again, requested this person not be involved due to preconcieved ideas and unprofessionalism but i am lost. This app has no objectionable content, I have shut down all social media channels as it was brought up in the call today.

What is concerning is this line has now been delievered to me " you agree that Apple, at its sole discretion, may reject your app for distribution on the App Store for any reason"

I feel like no matter what I do moving forward my app will not be approved even though it breaches no guidlines.

What are my options ?

What can i do?

You may not be showing any actual nudity in your app and/or web site, but the implication is that some scantily clad woman will come clean your house or wash your car (if that indeed is what they do when they come over). And if the business is really legitimate and some plain-looking woman (or man) comes over to clean house, that's false advertising.

It isn't false advertising.

Just like Airtaskr all agents of the app have a profile picture and a rating based on happy or unhappy clients. You see the cleaners profile picture and rating before they come over so appreciate the response but this is not a correct answer.

There is a KiKii agent app where people sign up and get verified and there is the consumer KiKii app for everyone to use.

I feel like no matter what i change or do the app will be rejected based on the descretion of Apple, more so there team member Jenny who is making wild acquastions against the app.

Extremly frustrating when you have built an app that you believe is a game changer and some employee of Apple has preconcieved ideas.

Seriously apart from appealling what are the next steps? This is clearly a case of bullying from Jenny and deformation.

You seem to be perplexed as to how someone could mistake your app for a prostitution app. Yet you decided to change 1) images on your website and 2) shilouettes in the app and it is unclear if you changed the bikini picture on the social platform. Those changes argue that one could have mistaken your app for a prostitution app otherwise why did you think these changes would address the problem? But reread your explanation about that bikini clad car washer and realize how disappointed your app users would be if the car washer showed up fully dressed. ........What can you do? You can display the pictures of your real cleaners and stop trying to sell ‘sexy images’ (if you are, in fact not trying to sell ***). Then apologize to Jenny for your poor taste in marketing and ask her to reconsider your real app. But don’t even try until you realize how inappropriate your marketing was and how appropriate App Review’s response was.

I completly own that the marketing was not appropriate and have taken steps to assure that will not happen again.

It was a cheeky marketing strategy that was approved to generate intrest in the app, however I can see the corrolation and as recomended by Jenny and others I have removed the images and now back to the drawing board with the marketing of KiKii.

You are correct the images in marketing need to represent the services, however coming from a marketing background all businesses do marketing to create a frenzy or generate awareness by pushing boundaries. Obviuosly the boundaries were pushed to far and we have taken steps to remove the images and re-stratagise the marketing plan.

Right now all images on the kikii website are fully clothed yes they are artistic images but thats marketing!

As mentioned all agents are verified and have a profile picture so the consumer knows exactly who is coming to clean before they even book the cleaning service just like with Airtaskr.

Honestly there is nothing more I can do, the below outlines all suggestions from Jenny that have been completed by me personally

  • changed images on website
  • removed / deleted social media pages
  • changed shilouettes on app
  • rewritten content on website
  • changed marketing strategy

I already apologised for the marketing strategy in the first phone call when the assumptions were made of the app, since then i have made all changes that could be seen as objectionable.

There is no objectionable content on the app its pretty much like Uber frame work, but please look at the site and make recomendations

Very good response. I’d take your last post, add “Dear Jenny” and place it in the notes to App Review. Good luck!

In all honesty, I think you're going to have trouble competing with the likes of Angie's List.

Well we removed objectionable content that was shared by apple and we have resubmitted the app for review.

Within 48 hours the app was rejected again.

I have appealed again and asked for examples of the objectionable content so will see what apple come back with, however I cannot find anything and all objectionable content that apple asked to be removed has been removed.

The app is like Airtaskr you can book a car wash, cleaner ect ect Its like Uber for domestic duties I cannot understand how there is any objectionable content? Honestly I feel like my app has been flagged for automatic rejection.

Are my only options to continue to submit and appeal over and over again?

A heartfelt apology for the earlier version might be helpful if it turns out you are on Jenny's short (replace 'or' with 'i') list.

You always speak of women coming to clean, whatever they wear. Why not also men ? Featuring women only, whatever they wear, can be misleading and it is a bit discriminatory.

Maybe someone at Apple read the Terms and Conditions on your website was suspicious because you are using the street address and official company registration number of Uber in the Netherlands. That seems odd for a company in Australia. And in your Provision of Services, you changed Uber's various services to "Bikini Cleaning".

I have an idea of what might fix it:

Remove all references to bikinis (or any clothing for that matter) and any references to gender of service provider. How are those relevant to cleaning services?

Also, remove the provider's profile picture until after the customer is committed to the appointment. Showing the photograph before the customer has committed to booking the service creates opportunities for discrimination based upon the appearance of the provider and this is unlikely to be something that they will allow.

Notice that in Uber's app, you don't get to see the pictures of the drivers before they're already on the way to pick you up. This prevents you self-selecting your driver on the basis of their race, appearance, gender, etc.

I notice the search engine optimization on their main website also includes such gems as:

"We make cleaning dirty! Find a nude cleaner near you today. Our kiki agents clean houses, windows and our kiki agents will even wash the dog. Download the kiki app today."

I think the developer just needs to understand that this is never ever getting approved in the App Store.
