Should I update to 10.15?

I'm a student developer, so I don't have an office full of computers to mess around on or anything, and I want to mess arround with making a Catalyst app. I'm tempted to update my main machine to 10.15, but I'm worried about it damaging the machine, or atleast making it unusable for the time being. Is it worth it to update now, or should I wait until full releace?

It would be best to install 10.15 on a properly formatted (APFS with a GUID Partition Map) external drive. You would be able to boot from it when you want to experiment with 10.15. Then you could always boot back to your internal drive (probably running Mojave) without fear of messing it up. A small SSD external drive would give you the best speed.

Never install a beta on a daily driver you rely on, even then, if there is anything on it you need, be sure to have a tested and reliable backup.

BTW, a beta is a beta, a look ahead trial, not an 'update' 😉

If you are a developer don’t do it. It is extremely unstable and even having weird bugs and crashes with Xcode.

Should I update to 10.15?
