Unable to open Security & Privacy Preference Pane (beta 5 and beta 6)

Hey all - curious if anyone has run into this! Since beta 5 I am unable to go into Security & Privacy on my 2019 MacBook Pro 15". When I click on that Preference Pane, System Preferences freezes and needs to be forced to quit. After installing beta 6, the issue is the same. If I try a different user, instead of freezing, I get an error that says Security & Privacy is unable to load.

This means I am unable to approve installation of apps that require manual approval, can't load certain system extensions that require me to approve them in that pane, and can't give apps like Dropbox the permissions they need to operate.

Any thoughts on how to fix? 🙂

Ditto. I'm having the same problem. I submitted a bug report to apple, but have not gotten a response yet.

Hello Taylor.

I had the same problem with my MacBook Air 2019. When I tried to open the Security & Privacy panel, it crashed or produced an error message.

After a few tries, I did a backup over TimeMachine and started the MacBook with Option, Command & R. Macintosh HD completely deleted and Macos 10.15 Catalina Public Beta 5 installed.

After the installation, I recorded the data from the TimeMachine Backup with the Migration Assistant and everything worked. The Security & Privacy panel can be opened again without any problems.

I hope that can help you too. Please excuse my bad English.

Felix
