How do I turn off Find My iPhone?

I'm unhappy so far with iOS 9 beta and am currently trying to restore a backup. However, because there are so many bugs, when prompted by iTunes to disable Find My iPhone in the settings under iCloud, I cannot. I tried clicking the category, and all it does is show that I clicked it and then freeze to where nothing moves until the app crashes. Try this again, same results. I'm getting very frustrated and desperate with no clue how to go about restoring my iPhone to iOS 8+ since I can't get anywhere with settings. Has anyone had the same problem?

Dear xHoranx,

I believe that I have a solution for you. I would plug your iOS device that has iOS 9 Beta on it currently into a Mac device and then delete all of the data on the device via the iOS device being plugged into your computer, while using iTunes to do it. If this solution doesn't work, I am more than happy to help you fix this problem with you.

Best Regards,

Hi xHoranx

There are quite a few ways to turn off "Find My iPhone" explained in this Apple Support Article.

The simplest, if you're trying to go back to iOS 8.4 anyway, is to erase your content and settings (in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When you erase your content, Find My iPhone and Activation Lock are also turned off.

Alternatively, You can also turn off "Find My iPhone" for your device by logging into iCloud.com on a computer:

  1. Turn off wifi and Mobile Data on the iPhone you want to remove, and put it into Airplane Mode - it has to be offline.
  2. Go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com on a computer.
  3. Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account. If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button ✖ next to the device.
  4. If the device comes online again, it reappears in Find My iPhone, so you'll have to restore it before giving it internet access
