Activity App on iPhone not working

Hi all,

On my iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9 Beta 4 paired with the Apple Watch running WatchOS v1.1 the Activity App just shows a screen telling me to set up the Activity app on the Watch first. I have done that (and it works fine on the Watch), but no rebooting or restarting seems to get the iPhone companion app to show anything else than this one screen.

Any ideas? Do I need to update my Watch OS to the version 2 beta first or something?

Thanks in advance,

Lucien Dol.

Hi Lucien,

Re-pairing is your best option at this point. And no, you won't lose the data on the watch. So long as you unpair from the phone while they are in range, the phone will automatically make a backup.

Then, when you go to re-pair your watch, the phone will offer to restore it from backup for you.

Some have found that switching setting "activity / progress update" on the iPhone watch app to "none" has allowed the Activity apps to sync.

Yeah, I've tried that, but no no avail.

I don't think the issues is with synchronising (or not), but rather that the phone app seems to think the watch app has not yet been set up. But the watch app is running fine and doing everything it is supposed to.

I was thinking about re-pairing the watch, but would that mean I lose all data on it?

Hi Max,

Thanks. I re-paired my iPhone and now the Activity app works as it should - and my history has been maintained through the backup and restore.

Lucien.

Glad it's sorted for you 🙂
