I use dropbox to manage my Photo's and photo importing. The new Photos apps blocks this and makes itself the 1 to rule all my photo's and photo imports.

Not not NOT happy about that. If people want to use Photo's fine. I don't want to use Photo's and I don't like not having a choice.

You have a point.

Apple ruined iTunes/music, now it looks like Photo/images is next.

Use the bug reporter to feature request the option to at least move it to the side.

Hi Trevise,

KMT has already suggested how to leave your feedback (here's the link for that btw).

However, it is possible to have Photos completely ignore your iPhone/camera etc. as follows:

Connect your iPhone, iPad or camera to your Mac like you normally would. This will obviously launch the Photos app, so let it load.
In the Photos app, click the Import tab on top, and here you should see the device connected to the Mac listed in the upper left corner. So for example if you have an iPhone connected to your computer, it will have your iPhone name there.
Next to the device name would be an option titled ‘Open Photos for this device.’You need to uncheck this option. Photos won't automatically launch after that.
