I want to do manual release to get promo codes for review sites and others. So if I were to set app for review in iTunes Connect, how far do I set the "Availability date" in the "Pricing tab" in the future? How long is a review if approved? Is there a specific or average time frame between the day a developer sets their app for review to the day it's reviewed?
iTunes Connect Apple Review process
There are no guarantees about review times, but I read that 95% of apps are approved within 7 days of submission. Right now, there are two options for release: (1) Apple releases the app immediately after approval, and (2) you release the app yourself. There's a new option for a timed release, but I'm not sure it's available for use right now.
For your specific situation, I'd recommend that you choose the second option. After approval, you'll be able to get promo codes so you can hit the button to release the app when everything is all ready.
Drilling down thru 'Support/App Store' link above, you can find - App Review Status. Averages are shown for recent waits.
Waits to get to review and review times themselves vary, depending on the queue and type of app, etc.
If you set the release date to the future, be sure to track it against actual ready for the store status...don't assume it will be approved first time, and that date might slip into the past by the time it's ready. No big deal if that happens, but don't assume anything about the process, especially if you have some calendar event planned.
Hi bob133, my new app is in the review proses, today is the tenth day of in review, not counting waiting for review. I read an article saying the average time was 5 days, but didn't realise the article was from 2012. PANIC, hopping today is the day.
