Signed apple-app-site-association blows up Appsearch Validation Tool

We've been signing our apple-app-site-association file since iOS 8 because we also provide the "webcredentials" key. Now we're adding the "applinks" key with appropriate dictionary.

However when we use https://search.developer.apple.com/appsearch-validation-tool/

to validate the domain, it claims oure apple-app-site-association file is not correctly formatted. If we replace apple-app-site-association with an unsigned version, the validator passes us.

So my question is, is that just a bug in the validator not handling signed association files, or will iOS 9 have a similar issue? Because we still need apple-app-site-association to be signed for webcredentials to work in iOS8.

I get this too as we want to still support iOS8 handoff that needs it in the signed format!

bump. same problem

Same problem, but different message :

An apple-app-site-association file was found but it is using the old format.

Thanks

I was getting the same warning. Just check that you are using the format specified at https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/documentation/General/Conceptual/AppSearch/UniversalLinks.html (Listing 6-1).

> The

apps
key in an
apple-app-site-association
file must be present and its value must be an empty array, as shown in Listing 6-1. The value of the
details
key is an array of dictionaries, one dictionary per app that your website supports. The order of the dictionaries in the array determines the order the system follows when looking for a match, so you can specify an app to handle a particular part of your website.
