iTunes wont sync IPhone 6 Plus, backups gone

I'm on ios9 beta 3. I installed ibackupbot and now all my backups that showed up in ITunes are gone. I tried to do a backup and does nothing in Itunes. It said this phone has never been backed up before on this computer ( I have 4 prior backups in the backups folder, shows nothing in ITunes). I restoresd the I phone to iOS 8.3 then back to iOS 9 beta 3. I have a backup made with iOS 9 beta 3 that I need restored. It's still in the ITunes backup folder but it was coming up,corrupt when trying to restore in 8.3. Now all my backups are gone and won't even backup the iPhone. Did ibackupbot do something?

Hi Smoke,

I don't know if iBackupBot is responsible for your backups going missing but I believe that quite a few people used it to recover backups that had gotten corrupted due to a iOS 9 beta backup bug that occurs under certain circumstances. No one else has yet reported anything similar to you though.

There are these steps you can take to manually cause iTunes to recognise one of the backups you have in the Backups folder - they're easier than they may look at first sight:

  1. From iTunes, click "back up now" and a new clean functional backup will be created (of course not with the data you want, but we will get to that) . Now go to the backup folder and open the folder that was just created by iTunes.
  2. You will see a very long list of files. At the very bottom of the file list you should find Info.plist
  3. Open it in TextEdit and copy all the text from the begining all the way down through <key>IC-Info.sidv</key>
  4. With that info on your clipboard, close this file and go back to the backup folder and delete the whole newly created backup.
  5. Now open the backup that you actually want (the older one that is not showing up in itunes). In that folder you will also find Info.plist
  6. Open that file and delete everything all the way through <key>IC-Info.sidv</key> and then paste what you copied from the other file.
  7. Now save the file and close it.
  8. Open up iTunes. You should now be able to see the older backup version that you wanted to backup to.

Let us know if this answers your question 🙂
